ASTM-A572 Standard Specification for High-Strength

D For plates wider than 24 in. [600 mm], the elongation requirement is reduced two percentage points for Grades 42, 50, and 55 [290, 345, and 380], and three percentage points for Grades 60 and 65 [415 and 450]. See elongation requirement adjustments in the Tension Tests section of Specification A6/A6M.

thickness of A572 Gr. 50 is exceeded. The switch to A588 for thicknesses over 2 in. (50.8 mm) will not be necessary once AASHTO has adopted the newly revised ASTM A572 Gr. 50 specification which maintains 50 ksi (345 MPa) yield through 4 in. (101.6 mm). There is usually a slight advantage (1% to 2%) with hybrid designs compared to the 50 ksi (345 MPa)

piles are recommended to be ASTM A572, Grade 50 (50 ksi yield strength). Due to driving stress limitations induced during the driving process, the recommended factored resistances are based on ASTM A36 (36 ksi yield strength) and are therefore less than the actual structural capacity of the pile. Structural Steel - S235, S275, S355 Chemical Composition

May 11, 2012 · I'm afraid the information you have is incorrect. S275 is not an obsolete grade and is still a mainstay in the construction industry perhaps even more so than S355 material. S355 is a higher grade of material compared to S275 and therefore there is a cost difference between the two grades. Hope this helps. Paul Murphy
